Backwards Day
You wake up and everything is happening in reverse — people walk backwards, rain falls upward, and lunch comes before breakfast. Can you figure out how to fix the day before time unravels completely?
You are nine years old, and you are a routine person. Every morning the same alarm, the same breakfast, the same walk to school with your best friend Jordan. You like things to make sense -- clocks tick forward, rain falls down, and your cat Muffin walks into rooms face-first like a normal cat.
'Predictable is good,' you mumble to yourself most mornings, fluffing your pillow exactly three times. 'Predictable is safe.' You live in a quiet neighborhood where the most exciting thing that ever happens is Mr. Henderson mowing his lawn on Saturdays.
Your life is predictable, comfortable, and completely, totally ordinary. At least, it was until this morning.
You squint at the ceiling. 'Why is my alarm beeping in reverse?' you whisper. 'That is... that is not a thing alarms do.'
