Thread of Gold

A young weaver learns that the threads on her loom can change luck itself, and races to mend the giant tapestry that holds her kingdom together before it unravels for good.

In the mountain town of Larkfell, where chimney smoke curled like sleepy cats, there lived a weaver girl named Anwen. She was twelve, with ink-dark hair and fingers that never stopped moving, even in her sleep.

Anwen worked at her grandmother's old loom, weaving plain wool blankets to sell at market. They were good blankets. They were also, if she was honest, a little boring.

'One day,' her grandmother always said, tapping the loom's worn frame, 'this loom will show you something it never showed me.' Anwen didn't know what that meant. She figured it was just the kind of thing grandmothers said.

Then one cold morning, everything changed.
