New Kid on the Block

It’s your first day at a brand new school, and you don’t know a single person. Can you find true friends, stand up to a bully, and discover where you truly belong?

You stare out the car window as your mom pulls into the parking lot of Riverside Elementary. Everything about this place is unfamiliar -- the red brick building, the tall oak trees lining the walkway, the kids laughing in groups near the front steps.

'You'll be great, sweetie,' Mom says, squeezing your shoulder. 'Just be yourself.'

'Be myself,' you think. 'Right. Because that worked SO well at the last new place.'

Your family just moved to Cedar Falls over the weekend because of your mom's new job. You had to leave behind your best friend Jordan, your soccer team, and the only neighborhood you've ever known.

Your stomach does a nervous flip as you grab your backpack. 'Just one day,' you whisper to yourself. 'You only have to survive one day.'
