Lemonade Truce: Grand Opening

Tessa and Dez are partners now, taking their lemonade empire to the big town fair, until a slick franchise rival and a tough choice about fairness test the friendship they fought so hard to build.

One year after they shook hands in the middle of Maple Street, Tessa Vance and Dez stood in front of the biggest sign either of them had ever painted. It read Tessa and Dez Lemonade Company, and it was going up at the Cedar County Town Fair.

'I still can't believe they gave us a real booth,' Dez said, balancing a stack of cups on his head just to show off. 'Last summer we were two kids yelling across a street. Now we're going pro.'

'Grand opening tomorrow,' Tessa said, double checking her recipe cards for the hundredth time. 'Best lemonade at the fair. That's the plan, and the plan does not include coming in second.'

Dez grinned that old grin. 'Hope you like coming in first, then.' They both laughed, because somewhere along the way their oldest joke had stopped being a threat and started being their motto.
