Ghost Ship

A mysterious ship from 300 years ago appears in the fog — and its ghostly crew needs your help to break an ancient curse before dawn.

You have always been the brave one in your family. While your older sister screams at spiders and your dad gets nervous on roller coasters, you are the kid who explores the dark basement without a flashlight and reads ghost stories under the covers at midnight. Your family spends every summer sailing the coast, and you love everything about it -- the salty wind, the rocking waves, the feeling of being far from shore with nothing but ocean in every direction.

This August afternoon is perfect for sailing. You lean over the railing of your family's sailboat, watching dolphins race alongside the hull.

'Look at them go!' your dad called from the wheel, grinning. 'Must be a whole pod out there.'

You shielded your eyes from the sun and squinted at the horizon. Something dark flickered at the edge of the water, barely visible through the glare. That is not a cloud, you thought. It looks like... a ship?

'Hey, Dad? Do you see that out there?' you asked, pointing.

He barely glanced up from adjusting the sails. 'See what, kiddo?'

You looked again. The dark shape was still there, impossibly still on the rolling waves. A chill prickled the back of your neck despite the August heat. Something about that shape felt wrong -- ancient and waiting.
