Missing Puppy Mystery: Paws on the Case
Your puppy Biscuit starts acting strange, leading you to discover a secret network of neighborhood pets who are trying to solve their own mystery. Someone is stealing things from every house on Maple Street, and the pets know who it is.
It had been six months since you solved the biggest mystery your neighborhood had ever seen -- the Case of the Missing Pets. You had earned your reputation as Maple Street's youngest detective, and your puppy Biscuit had been by your side through the whole thing.
'We are officially retired, boy,' you told Biscuit one morning. 'No more mysteries. Just naps.'
But lately, Biscuit was acting weird. Really weird.
It started on a Tuesday morning. You were eating cereal when Biscuit suddenly sat bolt upright, ears perked, staring at the back door like something invisible was calling him. Then he scratched at the door three times -- pause -- two times -- pause -- one time.
'Almost like a pattern,' you murmured, spoon halfway to your mouth. 'Almost like a CODE.'
When you opened the door, Biscuit bolted across the yard and pressed his nose against the fence, whimpering. On the other side, Mrs. Henderson's tabby cat, Marmalade, was sitting perfectly still, staring right back at him.
'Okay,' you whispered. 'That is not normal cat-and-dog behavior.'
