Printed Tomorrow

Kai's new 3D printer keeps making objects they will need tomorrow. Can Kai figure out how it knows the future, and decide whether to use its gifts, warn people, or shut it down before it causes harm?

Kai had wanted a 3D printer for a whole year, and finally one showed up at the door in a plain brown box with no return address.

'Did you order this?' Mom asked, squinting at the label. 'It just says, FOR KAI. TONIGHT.'

Kai shrugged, but inside their heart was doing cartwheels. They lugged the box up to their room, peeled back the tape, and lifted out a printer the color of moonlight. It had no brand, no buttons, just a single green light that blinked like it was breathing.

'Okay, mystery machine,' Kai whispered. 'Let us see what you can do.'
