Secret Treehouse

A mysterious treehouse in the woods holds maps to impossible places and a 50-year-old journal full of unsolved clues.

You are not happy about moving. Back in your old town you had friends, a favorite pizza place, and a bedroom window that looked out over a park. Now your mom has dragged you to Hollow Creek, a tiny town you have never heard of, where the nearest pizza place is twenty minutes away and you do not know a single person.

'You will love it here,' your mom had promised during the drive. 'New places are full of surprises.' You had stared out the window and thought, 'I liked the old surprises just fine.'

You are the kind of kid who deals with big feelings by exploring. When you are upset, you walk. When you are curious, you investigate. And right now, stepping out of the moving truck and staring at the dense forest that stretches behind your new house, you feel a pull that is stronger than your bad mood. Something glints in the trees -- a flash of light, or maybe just your imagination. 'One look,' you tell yourself quietly. 'Just one look.'
