Shadow Thief
When Kai's shadow peels away during a solar eclipse and starts stealing other people's shadows, this quiet young artist must stop it before the shadow grows powerful enough to replace Kai entirely.
Kai was the quietest kid in Ms. Tanaka's fifth-grade class, always tucked away in the back corner, filling notebook margins with tiny dragons, castles, and swirling galaxies. While other kids shouted answers and traded jokes, Kai let pencil and paper do all the talking.
'Kai, are you drawing again?' Ms. Tanaka asked, not unkindly.
'Just... doodling,' Kai mumbled, sliding a hand over the notebook.
Today, though, something special was happening. The whole school was buzzing about the solar eclipse that would darken the sky right after lunch. 'Maybe the eclipse will be worth drawing,' Kai thought, flipping to a blank page. 'Something nobody else in class could capture quite right.'
