Volcano Expedition: Magma's Revenge

You return to Mount Kaldera after scientists detect strange activity deep underground. The volcano isn't just erupting — something ancient is waking up inside it.

Six months ago you explored Mount Kaldera and barely made it out alive. You thought your volcano days were over.

'Never again,' you had promised yourself. 'Once was enough for a lifetime.'

Then Dr. Reena Vasquez called you at midnight.

'Something is happening inside Kaldera,' she said, her voice shaking. 'The seismographs are going crazy. The tremors have a pattern -- like a heartbeat. We need you back here.'

'A heartbeat,' you whispered into the phone. 'You mean a literal heartbeat?'

'I mean exactly that.'

Now you are standing at the base of Mount Kaldera again, staring up at its smoking peak. The ground beneath your boots vibrates in a slow, steady rhythm. Thump. Thump. Thump.

'Like something enormous is breathing deep underground,' you murmured. 'Okay. Definitely not going home.'
