When a kid promises to help their best friend win the science fair, an invitation to try out for an elite travel sports team puts that promise to the test. Can real friendship survive a tough choice?

Jamie Chen loved two things more than anything: soccer and science. Every day after school, Jamie would kick a ball around the backyard, practicing trick shots until the sun went down.

'One more goal,' Jamie would mutter at dusk, lining up another shot. 'Just one more, then I'll go in.' It was never just one more.

Jamie's best friend, Noah, was the biggest science nerd in all of Maple Creek Elementary. Today was a sunny Friday afternoon, and Noah was waiting by the bike rack with a huge grin on his face.

'What's he up to now?' Jamie wondered, spotting that grin from across the yard. Noah only smiled like that when he had A Plan.
